Warren Middle School 7th and 8th grade Cheerleaders participate in NCA 2009 Summer Cheer Camp

The Warren Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Cheerleaders recently returned from a National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) summer camp. The camp was held at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth June 14-17, 2009 and attracted hundreds of cheerleaders from the surrounding areas.

The National Cheerleaders Association selects award winners at each of the 1,000 camps it administers around the world each summer. Founded in 1948 by L.R. Herkimer, NCA has been conducting camps for 60 years and holds events annually for 150,000 cheerleaders and dancers around the world.

The Warren Middle School 7th Grade Cheerleaders received the following awards at the National Cheerleaders Association summer camp they attended.

The Warren Middle School 8th Grade Cheerleaders received the following awards at the National Cheerleaders Association summer camp they attended.

Spirit Stick Winner- Presented to the squad showing the most sincere spirit and enthusiasm throughout the entire week of camp. The 7th and 8th Cheerleaders each won the Spirit Stick 2 days of camp and were able to take their spirit stick home to Warren Middle School to be displayed in their trophy case along with their other accomplishments.

The following Cheerleaders received the following individual award of:

All-American Nominee:
Outstanding individuals who display strength in one of the following categories; motions, jumps, stunts, tumbling, dance or leadership. These individuals are eligible to perform at various NCA special events.

All-American Team Member:
The most prestigious award in cheerleading today. Participants vying for All-American status are judged on motion technique, jumps, tumbling, spirit and enthusiasm, voice projection and overall crowd appeal. These individuals are eligible to perform at various NCA Special Events.

Kasey Burgan and Mallory Maddux, the 8th and 7th grade mascots for Warren Middle School also attended the NCA Cheer Camp along with the Warren Cheerleaders.

Kasey Burgan received the following awards at the NCA summer camp.

Presented to the mascot with the most creative skit performed at the NCA summer camp.

Outstanding mascots who display strength in one of the following categories; skit, crowd involvement, signature walk, and leadership. These individuals are eligible to perform at various NCA special events.

Mallory Maddux received the following awards at the NCA summer camp.

Presented to the mascot that most improved during the course of the NCA summer camp.

Coaches’ Credentialing Certificate
NCA recognizes the coaches, Heather Peterson (8th grade) and Christal Gannaway (7th grade), for their technical knowledge and hands-on training in cheerleading through the active participation and completion of the NCA Cheer Coaches’ Credentialing Program.
