Forney High School Band and Choir Students Win 1st and 2nd Division Medals

Members of the Forney High School Band and Choir programs recently traveled to Austin, Texas on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 to compete in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Texas State Solo and Ensemble (TSSEC) contest held on the campus of the University of Texas.
The competition is the top tier of every band and choir program that advances in the state to perform collegiate level solos and ensembles for professors and adjudicators throughout the state and country.
Members of the Forney High School band program won several awards including five First Division Medals and nine Second Division Medals.

A record number of choir students also competed at the UIL, TSSEC and received top evaluations. The students performed a memorized solo/ensemble, mostly collegiate-level material, selected from the UIL's Prescribed Music List. The students' performances were evaluated by an adjudicator, many of whom were college applied-voice instructors.
