1st Graders learn about Going Green

On May 27th, 72 first graders from Johnson Elementary in Forney took a field trip over to the Kaufman County Xeric Garden where groups from the Kaufman County Agri-life Extension service and Environmental Co-op were set up with booths to teach the students various aspects of green living.

The students learned about rainwater harvesting, vermi-composting, the importance of trees, building eco-friendly gardens, recycling; and how all of these work together to conserve our natural resources and facilitate sustainable living for us all.
