Claybon 2nd Graders Learns About Forney's History

Second grade students at Claybon Elementary recently learned about Forney and its history.

The students were completing a unit where they learned the characteristics of a community, the cultural heritage of Forney and where we are located on a map.

The highlight of the unit was the visits from members of the community that came to speak to the students.

Skip Weatherford, 2009 Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board, spoke about the changes he has seen in Forney since he was born.

Emlyn Miller and Tracy Drane, from the Forney Historic Preservation League, brought several items from the new Spellman Museum of Forney History.

The students and teachers learned many interesting facts about the history of their community.
