Combine City Secretary Arrested for Using City Credit Card for Personal Use

Combine City Secretary Pamela Stone was arrested for illegally purchasing $10,000 of personal goods on city credit card

Late Monday afternoon, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office said thirty-three year old Pamela stone of Crandall was arrested on November 28, 2008 for charging $10,000 worth of personal expenses on her city credit card. Stone was the City Secretary for the City of Combine.

According to a statement provided by the Sheriff's office, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department was asked by the City of Combine to conduct an investigation into the former city secretary of Combine on On November 18th, 2008 after they learned of the expenses on the credit card.
Stone was hired by the City of Combine in March of 2008 to be the City Secretary. According to the Sheriff's Office statement, "Part of the City Secretary’s duties are to maintain control of a city credit card and use it for city purchases."
On November 24, 2008 Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a warrant for Misapplication of Fiduciary Property.
Kaufman County investigators found that for the last six months Ms. Stone had been using the City of Combine credit cards for personal purchases including trips to Wal-Mart, a bowling alley, and a book store, to name a few.
Sheriff’s Investigators discovered that Ms. Stone charged in excess of $10,000 in personal expenses to the City’s credit card.
At the time of her arrest, Sherrif's also learned that Stone had two additional warrants on unrelated theft charges.
Ms. Stone was transported to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and was released after posting $6,000 bond.
Sheriff David Byrnes said, “This is an ongoing investigation; more criminal charges may be filed against Ms. Stone.” |
