At Tuesday nights Forney City Council meeting, Parks & Recreation Director, Richard Curry and Public Works Director, Chris Metz, each requested Council approval to advertise for Request for Qualifications (RFQ).
Director Curry requested Council approval to advertise for Request for Qualifications for a sports management company needed to manage various sports programs for the Parks Department.
Director Curry stated, “At the November meeting of the Parks Board, Ryan Girardot of Sports Monster gave a presentation and proposed that the firm manage several sports programs, one’s we don’t currently have, like adult basketball, adult sand volleyball and youth and adult tennis, for us.”
Curry explained that at the meeting the Parks Board had stated that it would like to use a programming company for tennis, volleyball and basketball, and that city staff had indicated that the Request for Qualifications process would need to be implemented prior to contracting the service.
Council Members had few questions regarding implementing a programming service, which is expected to have a very minimal cost, and unanimously approved Director Curry’s request to seek RFQ’s.
Next to the podium, City Public Works Director, Chris Metz, requested Council approval to advertise for Request for Qualifications for landscaping designs for the medians on Ridgecrest Road.
Director Metz said, “As part of the fiscal year 2013 budget, the Council approved a Capital Improvements Project for the design of the Ridgecrest Road median landscaping.”
Explaining he stated, “The design includes all the center medians on Ridgecrest Road from FM 548 to FM 740, and this RFQ is only for landscaping architecture services. Once the landscaping design is complete, staff will use the construction cost estimates provided to prepare a possible budget request for landscape construction for the fiscal year 2014 budget.”
After asking no questions, the Forney City Council voted unanimously to approve Director Metz’s request to advertise for Request for Qualifications for median landscaping designs for Ridgecrest Road.
