On June 21, 2012 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Kaufman County deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious person at a storage facility in the 3800 block of Highway 80, just outside of Terrell.
An employee of the storage rental facility advised deputies that she had been contacted by the Marshall Police Department regarding a fraud case they were investigating and requested that she call the police if she saw suspects trying to enter a particular storage unit. When deputies arrived, two suspects were loading property from the storage unit into the back of a yellow 2007 Dodge pickup.
The subjects identified themselves as Lesa Coffel, 45, of Sanger Texas, and James Kirby Jr., 59, of Gun Barrel, Texas.
As deputies searched the vehicle they found that the storage unit was rented by the suspects using stolen identification of another person. During the search, deputies found numerous credit card and social security card information belonging to different people. Deputies also took into custody several machines used in producing false identifications.
Both suspects were arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use and Possession of identifying information. Coffel was also charged with Possession of Marijuana, and Possession or delivery of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center where bond is set at $13,000.00 for Coffel and $15,000.00 for Kirby.
