On Tuesday evening the Forney City Council voted unanimously to cancel their July 3, 2012 Council meeting in recognition of the July 4, 2012 holiday.
According to City Manager, Brian Brooks, “In order to make it possible for our employees and council members to enjoy a long holiday with their families, we are recommending that the July 3, 2012, meeting be cancelled.”
Reportedly the City of Forney Charter only requires the Council to hold one meeting per month and previous meetings have been cancelled for similar reasons.
Asking for a motion to approve the meetings cancellation, Mayor Rozell stated “We will likely come back on July 17th to a long meeting but I’ll entertain a motion at the request of the Council.”
Council Member Robbie Powers immediately made motion to cancel the July 3rd Council meeting and was seconded in her motion by Council Member, Mary Penn. All Council Members in attendance voted their agreement and the action item passed unanimously.
