NFHS Cheerleaders Attend 2012 NCA Summer Cheer Camp

The North Forney High School JV and Varsity Cheerleaders recently returned from a National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) summer camp. The camp was held at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas from June 4-7, 2012 and attracted hundreds of cheerleaders from the surrounding areas.
    
The National Cheerleaders Association selects award winners at each of the 1,000 camps it administers around the world each summer. Founded in 1948 by L.R. Herkimer, NCA has been conducting camps for 60 years and holds events annually for 150,000 cheerleaders and dancers around the world.

The North Forney High School Junior Varsity Cheerleaders received the following awards at the National Cheerleaders Association summer camp they attended.

Technical Excellence in Stunts for their efforts and focus on utilizing proper technique

Formal NCA Evaluation Excellent Ribbon for Chant & Excellent Ribbon for Cheer
Final NCA Evaluation Superior Ribbons for Cheer & Chant
Each cheerleader received a Superior Ribbon for their hard work and dedication

The North Forney High School Varsity Cheerleaders received the following awards at the National Cheerleaders Association summer camp they attended.

S.P.O.T. Award for displaying excellent skills in spotting and stunt technique

National Championship Bid which allows them to compete in the National Championship

Formal NCA Evaluation Excellent Ribbon for Chant & Excellent Ribbon for Cheer

Informal NCA Evaluation Superior Ribbons for Chant & Cheer

Final NCA Evaluation Superior Ribbons for Cheer & Chant

Each cheerleader received a Superior Ribbon for their hard work and dedication

Spirit Stick Winner- Presented to the squad showing the most sincere spirit and enthusiasm throughout the entire week of camp. The Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleaders won the spirit stick 3 days of camp and were both able to take their spirit stick home to North Forney to be displayed in their trophy case along with their other accomplishments.

Captain’s Class - Varsity’s captains, Samantha Brightwell and Sarah Simeon, and Junior Varsity’s captain, Cheyenne Hunter, completed a class at camp designed to teach cheerleading captains leadership and responsibility in order to help guide their teams.

Outstanding individuals who display strength in one of the following categories; motions, jumps, stunts, tumbling, dance or leadership. These individuals are eligible to perform at various NCA special events.
