In stark contrast to Thursday’s and Friday’s game against the Ennis Lions, the Lady Jackrabbits played error less ball and scored two runs in their final at bat to beat the Lady Lions 2 – 1 and advance to the state playoffs next Friday in Austin Texas.
This game quickly turned into a pitcher’s duel throughout the night with the Lady Lion pitcher holding on to a no hitter going into the top of the seventh inning and the Lady Jackrabbit pitcher allowing only one hit through the first five innings.
Plagued by errors in games 1 and 2 against the Lady Lions, the Jackrabbits defense brought their A game and had no miscues in what so far has become their most important game of the season to date.
Neither team had scored until the Ennis Lions put one on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning off of two of their only three hits for the night.
Not daunted by the task that they faced the Lady Jackrabbits scored two runs off of three hits in the top of the seventh inning and then held the Lions scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to take the best of three series 2 – 1 and a trip to Austin next weekend.
