On Friday evening April 14th the FHS Boys Basketball teams was honored at their annual team banquet and several outstanding players were recognized for achievements this season.

A lovely barbeque dinner was served and starting the awards presentation right on time,  FHS Varsity Basketball Coach, Bart Holloway, thanked everyone for attending and for all their support throughout the season, and the began by recognizing the teams trainers and managers.

With the assistant of Freshman Coach, Steve Kunkel, and JV Coach, Bryan Lucus, the Freshman and Junior Varsity players were next recognized and presented with certificates acknowledging their team record or achievement.

Next calling forward the FHS Varsity Basketball team, Coach Holloway, spoke proudly of several players, many of whom are soon to graduate seniors.

Describing the 2011 Varsity Boys team, Coach Holloway said, “We took a step in the right direction this year. We had a lot of great accomplishments this year. We had a player make the All-Tournament team, in every single one of our tournaments, Sage Baker. We performed really well in tournaments this year.”

First calling forth and recognizing all the varsity players, Coach Holloway next stated, “I’ll start off with the All-District Team 4-A Honorable Mentions, Sage Baker and Wolfgang Parks. And then we had one other player named to the All-District 4-A list, and he was a unanimous selection. His hard work has definitely shown throughout the district and throughout all the coaches of first teams, and that’s Patric Youngman.”

Next presenting several special awards, Coach Holloway stated, “I like to give this one out as a team award. The first one is the Jackrabbit Award. This is an award I started with the mindset that there are attributes that young student athletes need to have to be part of the Jackrabbit program. And the people that receive this award have epitomized that attitude and that dedication to the team, and their teammates, to the school, to everybody.”

Coach Holloway said, “I had to take a long look at it. I couldn’t give it to just one person this year. The attitude and being there every day that these two young men showed, I hope that everybody here that is coming back next year can look at that and see that’s how we’re suppose to act, and that’s how we’re suppose to be each and every day. The co-winners of the Jackrabbit Award this year are Blake Davis and Addison McElveen.”
