Tuesday night at North Forney High School the seniors celebrated their last home district game by defeating the Ferris Yellow Jackets by a score of 12 – 1.

Seniors, Taylor Schoblocher and Shelby Hedrick, each took the ball deep as did sophomore, Peyton Hedrick, to run their two year district record to 19 – 0  with one district game remaining in Kemp on Tuesday the 17th.

Prior to the start of the game seven Lady Falcon seniors, #2 Kaylee Valdez (OF), #5 Shelby Hedrick (P), #6 Sara Bone (OF), #9 Taylor Schoblocher (SS), #13 Bree-anna Perez (OF), #14 Taylor Heath (1st B) and #24 Hollyann Weckman (OF) were acknowledged by family members, teammates, friends and by their fans.

Coach Delozier and the underclassmen (women) gave departing gifts to each of the seniors as they walked through a tunnel of bats with their parents to celebrate the last home district game of their incredible career.

Tears flowed freely for several minutes as the young ladies and their parents exchanged hugs and handshakes with Coach Delo and several of the other players.

The Lady Jackets scored the first run of the game before NFHS Pitcher S. Hedrick and the Lady Falcons could retire them.

The Lady Falcons lead-off hitter, 2nd baseman, Peyton Hedrick stepped to the plate and answered with a homerun over the left field fence.

Next up was 3rd baseman, Christie Flanagan who quickly followed with a solid double.  S. Hedrick, not to be out done by her sister, connected to send the ball soaring over the center field fence and earned an RBI.  The Lady Falcons were leading 3 to 1 at the end of the 1st inning.

In the 3rd inning, Ferris’s left fielder dropped a pop-fly by S. Hedrick which allowed her to get on base.  Stealing bases as she went S. Hedrick advanced to 3rd base when Schoblocher slammed a double into left field which brought her home and increased the Lady Falcons lead.

Working consistently and decisively the Lady Falcons shut down the Lady Jackets next six batters.

The bottom of the 5th inning highlighted the North Forney players as they completed a full batting rotation while putting 7 runs on the board.  The runs consisted of a homerun and RBI by Schoblocher, a triple and 2 RBI’s by Valdez, a triple and an RBI by S. Hedrick and RBI’s by both Perez and P. Hedrick.

The Lady Falcons were leading 11 to 1 at the beginning of the 6th inning.  They stayed focused and quickly retired the next three Lady Jackets.

Hoping to cool off the Lady Falcons bats the Lady Jackets changed pitchers.  However, with a base hit followed by two walks the Lady Jackets found themselves in a deep hole.

With the bases loaded Valdez hit a single and added to their score.  Although the bases were still loaded and the Lady Falcons only had one out, this brought the score to North Forney 12, Ferris 1 and triggered the UIL run rule.

Following the game, Head Softball Coach, Scott Delozier said “This was a great victory on Senior Night and a fantastic way for the seniors to finish their district career.  He further stated, “The Lady Falcons are currently 9 – 0 in district play and have allowed only 2 runs so far this season.  We hope to continue and advance to the state playoffs.”

The Lady Falcons have a buy this Friday the 13th and will play at Kemp on the 17th of April.
